YGB: Self-Determined Community Control

The Young Gifted and Black Coalition presents a day of Political Education and protest – Tomorrow!

We will begin at 4:00PM at UW Elvehjem building–Room L160. Located next to the Chazen Museum—with Max Rameau speaking on Community Policing.

*Why it IS needed?
*How we can make it happen!!!

Following our political education and community engagement session—WE WILL TAKE IT TO THE STREETS.

At 7PM 5:30pm we will gather in front of Chazen Museum.

YGB is committed to educating the public and empowering Black communities in Madison WI.

It is time to take Power from the State and Transfer it to the PEOPLE!!!!!

Thus we demand:
1) That the $8 Million proposed for the jail study be taken off the table, and invested in resources and initiatives led by the Black community.
2) The immediate release of 350 Black people who are currently incarcerated for crimes of poverty and that they remain out!!
3) End solitary confinement. Solitary confinement exacerbates mental health problems for all people.

Silence = Violence

We NO longer will participate in the oppression of OUR people.

“It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love and protect one another. We have nothing to lose but our chains.” Assata Shakur
