Updates on F-35 Fighter Jets In Madison

Brenda Konkel filling in on A Public Affair on WORT-FM 89.9 Community Radio.  Guests today are Supervisor Heidi Weglieitner and Alders Grant Foster and Rebecca Kemble. From the WORT website:

A few weeks ago, we aired an episode about the opposition to the Air National Guard’s proposal to site a fleet of F-35 fighter jets at Madison’s Truax Field. For today’s show, guest host Brenda Konkel sits down with local officials to get updates on the F-35s and the city and county resolutions opposing them.

Our guests for the hour are Dane County Board Supervisor Heidi Wegleitner, Alder Rebecca Kemble, and Alder Grant Foster. They answer a variety of listener calls about the environmental impact of the F-35s on plants, wildlife, and the lakes; concerns around nuclear weapons; and the resounding effects of the fighter jets not just on the Eastside but throughout the city.

To learn more about the opposition to siting F-35s at Truax and read summaries of the National Guard’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), you can visit Safe Skies Clean Water Wisconsin’s website.

The public comment period on the EIS runs from now until September 27. You can submit your comments online here.
