UPDATES TO CDA WEBSITE

This is exciting news for some of us!

I just wanted to share with all of the advocates in the community that tirelessly help so many of our CDA’s applicants with applying for housing that the CDA has just gone live with an updated version of our online application system and implemented a new applicant portal system!

The updated version of the online application will prevent folks from re-applying who are already active and direct them to submit updated information rather than submitting a whole new application, will prevent folks from applying who do not qualify for the programs (over income, do not need a wheel chair accessible unit and attempted to apply to Karabis, are not elderly/disabled/family since the “singles” wait list is not currently open, etc.), and much more!

The new applicant portal system will allow CDA applicant’s to create an online account where they can check their statuses, submit changes, and submit documents electronically. The flyer below has been mailed out to all active CDA applicants and their advocates and should be arriving in the next week or two. All applicants need to create an account online will be their six digit entity ID number (would be in the right hand side of any previously mailed CDA correspondence) or their confirmation number from when they originally applied. If folks do not have either of these, there is a link to click on and the applicant will receive an email with this information if they provided an email address in their original online application or they can email housing@cityofmadison.com to request their entity ID number.

I hope all caseworkers assist or encourage their clients in creating an account so that they together with their clients can check statuses online, see what information the applicant provided on their application and update as needed, and submit documentation (needs letter items, preference documentation, etc.). I also see this as a benefit when clients change caseworkers as they can share this information with their new caseworker to help them get up to speed with where they are at in the process with CDA housing and therefore can pick up where the previous caseworker left off rather than having to call to see if they are active on any waiting lists, re-submit another application “just in case” or just duplicate efforts.

As you work in these systems with your clients, please call us if you have any issues/pain points/comments so that we can ensure it is as user friendly and efficient as possible!

Thanks for all you do!
Kim

COUNTY BOARD PRESS RELEASE ON THE ALLIANT ENERGY CENTER

County Board sent out this press release just 3.5 hours before the meeting. They are the masters of the non-invite. These meetings are at a terrible time for the public to attend, the notices always come out late (Friday before the Monday when they meet) and they rarely have links to any of the materials they are going to discuss.

DANE COUNTY COMMITTEE TO HEAR FROM CONSULTANT ON ALLIANT ENERGY CENTER PRE-DESIGN WORK

At their meeting today, the Alliant Energy Center Redevelopment committee will hear from Strang, a nationally respected multidisciplinary engineering firm selected to complete the pre-design work for the five components of Phase 1 outlined in the Alliant Energy Center master plan, completed in 2018.

The pre-design work will build on the work of the master plan by determining specific functions and space needs in the Exhibition Hall.

Strang engaged in an intense information-gathering effort to determine the specific needs and expectations of staff, customers, event planners, vendors, and other stakeholders who were invited to provide input and direction.

The presentation to the committee on Monday will be Strang’s first presentation of their preliminary work with a more robust presentation and detailed budget estimates expected in October.

“Dane County has built Alliant Energy Center campus redevelopment initiative step by step over the last few years, from a market study, to a visioning effort, to the campus master plan. It’s exciting to see this momentum. We look forward to hearing from our consultants and seeing the results of their pre-design work,” Said Sharon Corrigan, County Board Chair, and Chair of the Alliant Energy Center Redevelopment Committee.

In addition to focusing on the expansion of the Exhibition Hall, Strang’s pre-design work will also include the other pieces of the Phase 1 redevelopment outlined in the master plan including: creation of a main plaza area, installation of a storm water management practices, additional parking, relocation of the arena building, and creation of a ring road around the campus.

“The master plan process provided a ballpark estimate for the proposed redevelopment,” explained Corrigan. “With the level of detail we will get from this pre-design work, the committee will be better prepared to advise on next steps related to funding opportunities, including private investments, county funding, and eventually – we hope – state funding.”

The committee will meet at 3:00 pm Monday in the Board Room of the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center.
