Support The Scene 02-24 thru 2-26

Thursday – February 24th

Happy Birthday goes out to Lonnie Turner from the Steve Miller Band.
Here is a clip of them doing The Joker on the old Midnight Special TV show.

Shake Daddys
Talula– 6PM, FREE SHOW
Dinner and The Blues, sounds like a good combination to me.

The Pistols at Dawn
The Black Capsules
Mr. Roberts Bar – 9PM, Free Show
Start out the night with some surf rock with a punk attitude from TPAD.
Then it’s time for The Black Capsules to turn it up with some 70’s punk with a twist of 50’s rock. You may want to bring your earplugs for this show.

Friday – February 25th

Happy Birthday to George Harrison best known for his work with The Beatles.
Here he is playing with The Traveling Wilberries.

The Mustache
The Alchemy – 10PM, FREE SHOW
If you have not caught the funk feel of The Mustache, gret yourself some hot pants and check them out!

Little Blue Crunchy Things
The Selfish Gene
High Noon Saloon – 10PM, $12
Little Blue Crunchy Things + The Selfish Gene = ROCK!

Saturday – February 26th

Happy Birthday to the one and only Johnny Cash.
Here is one of my favorite songs, Strarkville City Jail.

Soul Shaker
The Steepwater Band
The Crystal Corner Bar – 9PM, $6
Soul Shaker brings their solid 70’s blues sound back to The Crystal Corner to warm up the stage for a band that I know they have been trying to get into Madison for a long time.
The last time The Steepwater Band was booked to play with Soul Shaker they got into a van accident on the way out of Chicago.
The trailer was destroyed but the music lives on… Don’t miss this one!

Hypnopotamus
The Brink Lounge – 9PM, $5
If the name alone doesn’t make you want to check out this show, this group throws down
the funk and does the electric boogaloo on it. Who wants to miss that.

Dharmonic Deluxe
Sexy Ester and the Pretty Mama Sisters
Mickey’s Tavern
– 10:30PM, FREE SHOW
I have never had the chance to see Dharmonic Deluxe yet but they have some catchy songs on their myspace page. I have had the luck to attend many SE shows and they are one fun band to see live. I have never been a big fan of live music at Mickey’s but this band in an intimate setting will make you feel the music in your soul.

BOCKFEST!
That’s right it’s that time of year again, Capital Brewery breaks out the Blond Douple Bock.
I have not been there in a few years but I hear that it is set up much better than it was.
If you can’t make it out to the festival to catch a smoked fish thrown from the roof,
you can always grab a Maibock or Blond Douple at one of the local taverns that have it on tap.
