SEIU Heathcare WI want Ballots Impounded & Recounted

Revelation by Waukesha Republican Official with Known Credibility Issues is Questionable & Eerily Familiar to Previous GOP Efforts to Disenfranchise Voters, Re-Write History

County’s Ballots Should Be Immediately Impounded and Recounted

Waukesha, Wisconsin – – A recent revelation by Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus of thousands of votes supposedly cast for her former boss – -Justice David Prosser – – does not pass the smell test. Just one year ago, county officials ordered an audit of Waukesha County’s outdated election system after Nickolaus removed election data from county computers and installed them on personal computers in her office. Even before this issue, Nickolaus was resistant to an independent and thorough review of her election system. Now she wants the public to believe that some 7500 ballots for Prosser were somehow lost on her personal computer. Waukesha county’s ballots should be immediately impounded and recounted.

The mysterious, and arguably timely, discovery of ballots on a personal computer appears to be the latest example of Governor Walker and his friends unfairly using the levers of government to silence Wisconsin voters.

Following what can only be described as a midnight or sneak attack where Governor Walker summoned his friends to help him eliminate collective bargaining rights for nurses and teachers, this is yet another reminder of the lengths this administration will travel to side with partisan politicians and corporate donors rather than Wisconsinites.

Moreover, the recent revelation, by an official who has shown poor judgment and incompetence is eerily reminiscent to the 2000 election debacle in Florida where former GOP Secretary of State Katherine Harris went to unprecedented lengths to deliver the election to the GOP. No one wants a repeat of the 2000 election. Nor do we want another situation like what happened in Ohio in 2004 where former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell worked relentlessly to disenfranchise voters, simultaneously serving as the chief elections official and an honorary co-chair for George W. Bush’s re-election campaign.

Now more than ever, working people and middle class families – in, and outside of Wisconsin – must remain vigilant in the face of mounting attacks. Governor Walker and his cronies are relentlessly committed to re-writing history and scoring political gains for donors and friends at any cost. Working people must be equally determined to protect the basic tenets of our democracy.

  1. I agree with Dan, assuming you can set/manage the time stamp on the scanner.

What needs to happen is to examine voter rolls. Ensure that those marked as voting, did so.
