Rainy Friday Round Up

Not much today.

“WORKFORCE HOUSING” AT HILLDALE
No controversy, so far. Of course, its not really “low income” housing so I’m not surprised.

EDGEWATER JOBS
I hope people aren’t in for a HUGE disappointment.

HOW WILL HIGH SPEED RAIL AFFECT THE SKATE PARK
And a good question about how the city will pay for Overturn, the Library and the Edgewater.

SCOOTER GETS LUCKY
Remember the caucus scandal from 7 years ago? One guy still hasn’t gone to trial, and not when he does, he gets to do it in his home base. This is frustrating to many.

THUY’S BOILERPLATE RESPONSE TO ALL THOSE EDGWATER EMAILS AGAINST
Several people from the 2nd, 6th and 15th district got this email from Thuy in response to their opposition of the Edgewater plan. I guess she’s the champion of the liberal/progressive near east side. eyeroll.

I couldn’t agree more with you.

You must have known by now that around 8 a.m. this morning the Council approved EVERYTHING you & I are agaisnt. After 13 hours of grueling Council Session 14 alders ignored constituents’ testimonies to march in locksteps with the Mayor.
Together, they spent taxpayers’ monies like “drunk sailors”.

This deplorable situation at City Hall is going to continue with the Overture Center, Monona Train Station, etc……until voters wake up to elect honest people who truly care about Madisonians instead of those who just push their special interest groups’ agendas.

The 8% turn-out for local elections has its dire consequence.
I am very sorry my lonely voice coudn’t make the difference.

Sincerely,
Alder Thuy

ROB’S LINK
Eyeroll, again, from me, this one is questionable . . .

CHANNEL THREE RAISES INTERESTING ISSUES IN THEIR EDGEWATER EDITORIAL

But without dwelling on placing blame we need to learn from this experience as well. Two aspects of the process frustrated us most — the lack of a broader conversation about the economic growth and development needs of the city, and the inability of the city to devote attention and resources to other pressing needs as the Edgewater seemed to absorb everything we had. The competition is fierce out there folks. Cities are determining their futures, for better and for worse, with decisions like the Edgewater proposal. We need to be better as a city at dealing with these issues in time and at the same time.

VERONA BLAMES FALK
She didn’t vote, CARPC (Capital Area Region Planning Commission) did.

Kinda weak today. The city must be catching up on its sleep.
