Some community leaders (but not the alders!) got an email indicating the website would hold information about 2:00 and now the information is posted on the website.

 

Community Leaders,

This email is to give you all advanced notice that shortly we will be releasing various records in response to numerous open records requests related to the Officer Involved Shooting from March 6^th.  These records to be released consist of hundreds of pages and include such documents as reports and video from the 2007 OIS involving PO Kenny; personnel file documents; disciplinary records; reports in which Tony Robinson is named;  citizen complaints against PO Kenny, just to list a few.  In each instance where specific requested records were withheld or redacted, a letter outlining our legal position as to their non-release or partial release is provided.   Once posted to our website, our Public Information Office will notify local media through a new release and include the link that will allow those interested to view these records.

We have taken steps to notify both the officer and Tony Robinson’s family that these records will be released and have provided advanced notice to those within our department as well.  Given the work that our group has been doing these past several weeks and in the interest of our continued efforts to engage in ongoing communication, I wanted to make sure that all of you had some lead time and to hear directly from MPD  about the imminent release of these records.
