We are writing to let you know about a new housing website from Dane County that provides information and resources organizations, local residents and elected officials can use to better understand and address the housing gap in their communities.
Dane County’s lack of workforce housing has a negative impact on our economy and regional our competitiveness. Our lack of adequate housing causes tremendous hardship for our children and families, especially seniors, who struggle on limited incomes. These hardships create greater economic and social costs to our community over the long run.
Why is there a housing gap? Why should you care? If you want to learn more, and don’t know where to start, the housing gap fact sheet (attached), and new website will provide you with helpful statistics and background information, sample housing types, and a variety of tools to consider for local implementation.
