More Service Cuts

You gotta be REALLY poor to get free clothing from Community Action Coalition, who in the last year cut their hours, now they are cutting who they serve.

Notice of Policy Changes at the Clothing Center at Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) As of January 1, 2012 the following changes will go into effect:

1) Everyone will only be allowed to use the Clothing Center once per month. Unfortunately, there can be no exceptions!

2) Only those with incomes at or below the following amounts are eligible to use the Clothing Center:
Household size, Monthly Income, Yearly Income
1 person, $1,134, $13,608
2 people, $1,532, $18,384
3 people, $1,930, $23,160
4 people, $2,328, $27,936
5 people, $2,726, $32,712
6 people, $3,124, $37,488
7 people, $3,522, $42,264
8 people, $3,920, $47,040

We realize that these changes are not easy, but they’re needed because of limited resources. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Clothing Center hours will stay the same in 2012 – 10 am to 3 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, or by appointment.

The Clothing Center is a free service providing seasonally appropriate, good quality, used and new clothing for children and adults. It is located at CAC’s Madison office, 1717 N. Stoughton Road, Madison, WI 53704-2605. To register to use the Clothing Center, participants are required to declare their income and show ID for all household members. Please contact CAC at (608) 246-4730 or cac@cacscw.org for more information.

So, for one person, that’s making below the minimum wage for a full time job, so it would only be people working a part-time job or not working. For two people, that is one person working full time at $8.83 (mom with one kid). Three people would be one person making $11.13 per hour (mom with two kids). Those are some very, very low income limits and my guess is that they are as busy as ever. Kinda curious why you need an ID for all household members tho.
