When will the county (i.e. County Executive Joe Parisi) realize that? They are so determined to just screw with homeless people – what is their motivation? See my email I just sent fueled by injustice.
First, a note. I have been saying “the county” because it is hard to nail down anyone to take responsibility for anything, as you can see in my earlier post. When I am talking about disdain and mistreatment of the homeless and I say “the county” – I’m pretty sure that about 99.9% of the time I mean the County Executive Joe Parisi. This isn’t the parks department doing this. It also isn’t the county board supervisors. So who is pulling the strings – its coming from the County Executive’s office, just to make the crystal freaking clear.
This is a follow up to my post this morning. I am so annoyed I have a headache. The parks staff had all but convinced the campers they had to leave this morning. Like I said, we already paid them $204 for 4 nights, and we’re not moving, there are no vehicles to move and no ordinances we have violated.

So, yesterday the campers were informed of new rules or new enforcement of rules for this year that say that there is only one camping unit per site unless approved by parks staff. They were insisting that we needed to have only one tent per site. I finally found on your website, where if I might find it. If I go to your site, click here, here, here and then here, I find new rule “One camping unitis allowed per campsite unless additional units are approved by park staff.”
The campers talked to two parks staff yesterday and they seemed to be relaying the message that the campers had to relay this request in writing – to whom? When? They were “park staff” why can’t they approve it? Were they disapproving of it? What are the consequences? I’m very confused about where this rule came from (seems to be new this month) and what the consequences and enforcement mechanism is. Here is the recording of my conversation with your staff yesterday.
I’m even more confused this morning than I was yesterday. I re-read the ordinances and find no violation. I also re-read all the parks minutes since last October that are available on the website and can find no change in rules. Where does this new rule or new enforcement originate from? And how would one go about seeking permission to have more than one camping unit on a site?

p.s. If I have to go and set up my tent and pay $17 so you will talk to me, I can and I will. In fact, I will set up an additional tent so I have two camping units on my site.
Camping party this weekend anyone? One person per tent, 6 people per site . . . it’ll cost you $2.83.
Does this mean that a family with kids can’t have a “adults tent” and a “kids tent?” That’s what most families do. And I have frequently camped with friends and had two tents.
State parks allow two cars and generally two tents per site. Technically, the wording is as follows:
“Motor vehicles are restricted to the designated parking area on each campsite. No more than two motor vehicles (except as many as six motorcycles) are allowed per campsite.
“No more than one recreation trailer, pickup truck camper or motor home may occupy a campsite. Pickup campers or motor homes pulling a trailer are treated as a single unit.
“The number of tents allowed depends on the sizes of the tents and of the site. Call the park or forest office if you’re considering bringing multiple tents.”
That means, if the site is pretty generous and you are in smallish tents, you can have more than two tents. I have never, ever, in more than 25 years using the county and state parks throughout Wisconsin, been told that two 2-person tents is not acceptable, and I’ve seen plenty of families with a 4-person tent and a 2-3-person tent on the same site.
I note also that the rules allow up to 6 motorcycles per campsite. That will make for some awfully crowded tents — or uncomfortable sleeping in upright positions on those Harleys.
Joe must go ! I just handed my mother the Joe Tarr expose on the realities and successes of the Occupy Movement. What is going on is that Parisi is running for governor and yet another so called liberal using his office to show others he is not associated with this.
My mother used to throw my 2nd oldest brother up in the air when Joe McCarthy was the communist seeking senator from Wisconsin, and she would say as she threw my brother in the air, “Joe must go !:
Joe Parisi must go ! He works too hard on distancing himself from social issues. Please ask him if Occupy can camp naked at teh nude beach or would they be discriminated there too.
Joe Must Go ! He is one cold man.
