Good Meeting Tweet, Brings Bad Journalism

Apparently in today’s Wisconsin, random “tweets” are now what is classified as news!

We have one of the most extreme budgets in our history being passed quickly through the Wisconsin statehouse, major cuts to education, an abysmal 2 + year Abysmal economy in Wisconsin and our paper of record is combing through random tweets! Honestly!

Apparently, feeling that you are incapable of joining twitter yourself, the Wisconsin State Journal has decided to run a column(no word yet on if it will be a regular occurrence) called “Random Tweets”.

In today’s edition of “Random Tweets”, Pat Schneider found two tweets in the twitter verse that complained(with good reason, more on this coming), following a meeting that Kaleem Caire had with Scott Walker
. Of these two tweets was one from one of our own:

Walker tweeted about a “good meeting” with Caire, prompting a few snipes from those on the left. That is likely fallout from his failed proposal for a charter school in Madison aimed at minority students, which was seen by some critics as part of a larger right-wing effort to undermine public education.

Lukas Diaz, a local blogger (@forwardourmotto), retweeted Walker’s note, adding “No surprise that you and Caire get along well.”

Madison teacher Kati Walsh (@wiartteacher) tweeted “@CaireKaleem and @govwalker are new buddies meeting to defund #publiced with charters in addition to vouchers. #sleazy #backroomdeals.”

Of course the key word here being “likely”, It is also “likely” fallout from the rain that day or the color tie Scott Walker was wearing. As a reporter, apparently she felt the need to not call anyone up and just decide their motives for them. I have not talked to them either, but if I had been on twitter(follow me @jeffsimpson7) and seen that “tweet”I also would have made a comment. Something like this (with motives to save any reporter the time):

* What State did Mr. Caire have to travel to, too find you?

* Maybe Mr. Caire can help you find the millions you lost with WEDC!

* It is nice that you care so much for the poor that you took their ketchup away!

* Shouldn’t meeting with actual ELECTED democrats be first priority, instead of disenfranchising 1,500,000 Wisconsinites?

* Did you talk about how to the 84,000 Wisconsinites you are kicking off medicare, education is the least of their problems?

* Is anyone at the Urban League effected by your attack on the unemployed? discuss!

* has anyone seen Bret Hulsey?

There is a start for anyone else who can not go to twitter on their own. Feel free to add your own!

I can’t wait for the next cutest pet contest!
