Downtown Plan Wrapping Up

The plan commission is having its final meetings for final changes to the Downtown Plan. The business community and all their paid loobyists are all over this thing, coming up with their own proposals and suggestions. I hope the people who live downtown are paying attention too. But I don’t think so.

Here are the meetings that have been scheduled. They will not be video taped.

Subject: Dates for Special Plan Commission meetings on the Downtown Plan/Zoning Code

Alders,

The Plan Commission has scheduled several special meetings to review the Draft Downtown Plan and complete work on the Zoning Code.

The Commission met on February 9 and 14 to discuss the zoning map.

The Commission will meet on the following dates to work on the Downtown Plan (2/23, 3/1, 3/8, 3/13) and to start to work through the downtown zoning districts and map. Most of the meeting of March 1st will be a training session for the Commission conducted by The City Attorney’s Office and Planning Staff with the Downtown Plan being discussed if time remains.

Four additional meetings have been scheduled if needed (3/22, 3/28, 3/29, 4/5).

All of the meetings are being held in Room 300 of the Madison Municipal Building and will start at 5:00 pm.

The meeting tonight will start with these items.
A. Approval Process Status
B. Plan Commission Review Process
C. Plan Review:
– 1. Setting the Stage/Planning for the future/about this Plan
– 2. Appendices A and B
– 3. Key 9: Become a Model of Sustainability
– 4. Key 8: Expand Recreational, Cultural, and Entertainment Offerings (Time Permitting)

I thought there was going to be a memo with all the recommendations of each of the committees, but I don’t see it yet. Perhaps because not all the committees are done with their recommendations.
