Bus Windows NOT shot out on North Side

Grrrr. How’d this happen?

This really sucks for a story like this to go out and make people afraid of riding the bus because they are afraid they might get shot . . . and then to find out it wasn’t a shooting after all.

Unfortunately an incident report went out to the media last week saying that a bus window was “shot out” in the 1600 block of Northport Dr. The window was not shot out and there has been no confirmation that the small nicks in the windows of the bus were caused by any sort of firearm. While it is possible that a pellet or BB type gun may have caused the damage, it is equally possible that this was from stones thrown at the passing bus.

Obviously we are concerned that this incident occured whether it was caused by stones or BB’s. The investigation continues and our north district officers are aware and alert to the problem. My biggest concern is that the level of fear brought on by inaccurate reports and by rumor is way out of proportion to what we have learned so far.

Anyone with information about this incident are encouraged to call our regular dispatch at 266-4275 or call CrimeStoppers at 266-6014.
