Busy blogger week ahead with City Council and County Board meetings this week.
Monday, June 1, 2009
9:00 AM ALCOHOL LICENSE REVIEW COMMITTEE ROOM 103A CCB
– Non-renewal hearing for Ram Head
(What an unusual time to hold a meeting. Do the committee members all have to take the day off work to attend the meeting?)
5:30 PM PLAN COMMISSION ROOM 201 CCB
– A short agenda, with a long list of upcoming items with them finally dealing with the project of interest to east siders at 430-434 South Thornton Avenue, 1526 Jenifer Street and 433 Cantwell Court.
Tuesday, June 2, 2009
6:30 PM COMMON COUNCIL ROOM 210 CCB
– Halloween (4 & 5) – banning sales of goods and blocking off the Street
– Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol. See items 6 – 39 & 51 – 74.
– Appointments (46)- will the Mayor, Alder Rummel and Alder Skidmore work something out? I’m guessing not and the Mayor will get what he wants.
– The Mayor’s silly/useless report gender, people of color and people with disabilities on city boards commissions and committees (50)
– Should the city just throw away belongings of the homeless? (75) Will anyone on the council step up to help the homeless? Or, was this issue, as I have heard, been resolved administratively (The Mayor will write an APM?)?
– Property tax exemption issue, again, with new information (not yet available Monday morning) coming soon. (76 – 79, now includes an additional case not previously discussed.) Will Alder Schumacher move to give them their exemption as he hinted on Friday?
– CDBG stimulus funding plan (117)
– Shady Wood Neighborhood Plan (118) – low densities, bad planning practices in only planning one part of the neighborhood so a developer can move forward.
– Ordinance banning small quantities of alcohol. (122) Rumored to be tabled til October while they work on voluntary measures discussed in closed meetings.

12:00 PM PERSONNEL BOARD ROOM 525 CCB

4:30 PM URBAN DESIGN COMMISSION ROOM LL-110 MMB
– Improvements to Lisa Link Peace Park
5:00 PM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION ROOM 313 MMB
– Another snooze of a meeting, with lots of talking and reports, no action. Very disappointing.
5:00 PM HOUSING COMMITTEE ROOM 260 MMB
– After two years of discussing the affordable housing trust fund, its back to the beginning, a list brainstromed quite some time ago.
Thursday, June 4, 2009
8:30 AM RHYTHM & BOOMS PLANNING TEAM ROOM 108 CCB
6:00 PM MADISON WATER UTILITY PUBLIC HEARING 2010-2015 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM 119 E OLIN AVE
– Please comment on . . . ?????? . . . no materials attached. So, not sure what the public is supposed to comment on.
So, there you have it, but you might want to check the schedule yourself, and watch for additional meetings to pop up throughout the week.
