1st Time in 8 years! Cost of Living Increases for Nonprofits

Right as we’re (Tenant Resource Center) getting defunded . . . yeah, that makes sense! This feels like adding insult to injury. In 1998, TRC got $98,000 to provide services, this year in 2015, 17 years later, we got $90,000 and next year, that may be $0. Sigh. At least their finally doing the right thing for the rest of the nonprofits, but how many years are we behind, its way more than 8 . . .

This went out at 12:15am last night.

subject: A Note from County Exec Parisi: 2016 Budget POS COLA

Greetings:

Tomorrow, I am introducing my 2016 Dane County budget.

As a provider of the critical services offered by Dane County Human Services, you know firsthand the extent of county government’s incredible commitment to our community’s most vulnerable.

Budgets are statements of priorities, and the one I introduce tomorrow will include the clearest demonstration yet of the values we share and hold so dearly in this community. The 2016 Dane County Human Services budget will be the largest ever offered by a County Executive.

We are a community and couldn’t accomplish what we do, without you. We are all so grateful. The work isn’t always easy. The conditions are often far from ideal.

As an incredibly valued partner of county government, I wanted you to be among the first to know my budget will include nearly $700,000 in new money for a long awaited cost of living increase for providers. This is the first adjustment for providers in eight years. I hope it’s received in the spirit intended, with our deepest appreciation and gratitude for a job well done.

Sincerely,
Signature
Joe Parisi
Dane County Executive
