Why I Left The Catholic Church

They say a picture says 1000 words and this one most certainly does.

Bishop,Vicki,Schm

When the Bishop of my Catholic Church decides to spend his time supporting a person who makes a living selling hatred and vitriol, and has been known to skip on her bills, beat up policemen and try to organize boycotts of businesses that do not swear allegiance to the governor, then its apparent he does not have the teachings of his Boss in mind!

To make matters worse, Brian Schimming is also in the picture. I am not sure that a Bishop who takes his job seriously, would be hanging out with a paid propagandist who vehemently defends abusing women, and attacks our children’s education!

Fulton Sheen he is not!

While the Nuns on the Bus and our new Pope have given me hope, I will continue to attend a Church where the actual teachings of Jesus are taught!

By the way What Would Jesus Do?

Certainly NOT This!

  1. In a world readily using cell phones it is time to toss out mythology once and for all.
Looking backwards at a time in which the people had not mastered:
    Physics
    Chemistry
    Calculus
    Astronomy
    Medicine
    Mathematics
    Geography
    Genetics
    Archeology
    Engineering
    Bacteriology
    Architecture
    Oceanography
    Meteorology
    Forestry
    Nanotechnology
    Climatology
    Paleontology
    Nutrition
    Anthropology
    Hygiene
    Physiology
    and HUNDREDS more.
To the degree we have achieved today. It should be difficult to accept they had mastered theology after numerous preceding permutations.
It is well past time then to discard the superstitions and myths from that same region and era and reject the notion of gods in a manner that represents our substantial cognitive awareness of the worlds around us.
It is great time to leave the church.

  2. Let’s face it. Bob Morlino is a Republican, (along with many bishops) and an active Republican at that. He openly campaigns for Republicans during election season and silences all other thought with his autocratic gag decrees.

I have yet to see him emphasize compassion toward the poor or anything but the Republican agenda.

  3. No hatred at all just an explanation….I found a church where my Pastor used to be a Catholic Priest until he met woman and had to leave the Catholic church to join a Lutheran one so he could continue his calling(and he is doing exactly what he should be doing) AND fall in love and have a family. Talk about Sanctity of marriage!!

I enjoy going to church where My pastor is not scared to talk about treating LGBT people equally or to advocate for equality of Marriage from the pulpit.

For example, while Vicki was advocating handing out pacifiers to teachers who just wanted a say in their workplace, my new Pastor had all educators stand up after one service so we could show our respect nd give them a long sustaining round of applause.

Pick whatever side you want, I picked mine and im pretty sure that mine follows the teachings a little more closely!

PS: I find it laughable that you accuse me of not debating the issues!

  4. “Beating a policeman?” That’s an issue? If you say so, Mr. Simpson. (Must have been a pretty small policeman.) Or, could it be, Jeff, that the bishop is upholding the Church’s pro-Life position and finds Miss Vicki’s show somewhat more hospitable than the generally pro-abortion on-demand news media?

  5. Oh, Jeff, you are a thick piece of lumber. Is “beating policemen” a subject of debate in the legislature? Being argued before the supreme court? Point/counter-point on the news shows? It is not an issue — it is a personal attack, which is your specialty. My condolences to the students and parents of the Monona Grove school system. This guy is on your school board.

  6. No its not an issue being debated in the legislature. if you have been paying attention, the only debate allowed in the legislature is behind closed doors in the republican caucus.

It is also not a personal attack, it is a fact! Just pointing out the character of the people who our Bishop likes to spend his time with and support which is one of the reasons why I changed churches!

  7. Then you’d love the Bible story of Jesus spending time with the adulteress. He bade the citizens not to stone the woman to death, then beseeched her to go forth and sin no more. Jeff, all I’m asking is that you put down the stones.

  8. its all hate and BS, i have heard it. I disagree with her politics especially when she spews hate and BS.

What do you call it when you advocate giving out pacifiers to teachers? an all inclusive love?

  9. No, I call it satire, Jeff. In any event, one would wish that you had the intelligence and wit to counter Vicki. One would be disappointed, apparently. Instead, you resort to ad hominem attacks on a mistake made decades ago. Are you absolutely certain, Jeff, that you are free of hate for that which you disagree or don’t comprehend?

  10. One more thing, no law enforcement agency has ever accused Vicki of “beating up policemen” (plural, yet!). A certain slymer has been peddling that story and you, apparently, believe what you want to believe. Story of your life, isn’t it?

  11. 1. To the teachers who actually got abused and ridiculed and handed pacifiers, thanks to Vicki’s call for hate…it was hardly satire – http://bloggingblue.com/2011/08/30/republican-thugs-part-8-new-berlin-edition/

    2. so the night in prison never happened?

UW police Lt. Dale Burke Thursday said she was “verbally and physically combative” after a disturbance in the stands.

McKenna, 29, whose real name is Vicki Pyzynski, was booked into the
Dane County jail on the two criminal misdemeanors and spent the night
    there.

Funny I dont see anything about SLy there.

    3. i do see something about Sly here …speaking of ” But why debate the issues when you can attack the person?”

    http://www.ibmadison.com/Blogger/Bring-It/November-2012/Say-goodbye-to-the-Radio-Sly-mer/

    Ouch sometimes that mirror hurts!

    4. yes Vicki is such an amazing handle on the facts that she never lets progressives, liberals or democrats through to actually get on the air. Let’s be real here, everyone knows that alternative views are rarely allowed on her show. Just ask John Peterson .

  12. My God, Jeff. You ARE a hater.

First point: Handing out pacifiers is “abuse?” How about painting Hitler mustaches and chanting outside the personal home of Scott Walker at midnight? Or the death threats, pornographic comments, economic boycotts, and vandalism to Vicki and her property?

So Vicki is a terrible person because, 16 years ago when she was in her 20s, she over-consumed at a rock concert and got a little rowdy. Something that happens every football Saturday at Camp Randall. (No “beating of policemen” in the record, btw. That is the line the serial misogynist known as the Slymer has been peddling. You’re in good company, Jeff. And a night in the pokey is not “prison.” Prison is reserved for felonies.) But you can’t debate her on the issues, so you engage in this character assassination.

So much for forgiveness, Mr. Simpson. The Catholic church is the better for your leaving it.

  13. 1. yes handing out pacifiers to teaches is not abuse its stupid, idiotic and hate filled and all fueled by vicki and her cohort chucky sykes.

As for the rest dont make me laugh….the majority of thuggish behavior, was done by the republicans and scott walker enthusiasts and it wasVicki who was also advocating economic boycotts. As a matter of fact, thanks to Verify the recall, the right is still trying to intimidate and harass anyone who disagrees with them. Ask Josh Inglett! Hypocrisy runs deep in your ilk.

No she is not a terrible person because she got drunk and hit a cop(i am not sure whta you think “physically combative” is….she is a terrible person because she spews hatred and vitriol 5 hours a day.

As for forgiveness, there is nothing for me to forgive. I dont care that she is that misinformed on the topics. I dont even really care that she spews so much garbage from the public airwaves.

You make me laugh each time you say I couldnt debate her. As we know the only reason no one can debate her is she would not let anyone who disagreed with her near her to actually debate. Thanks for the laugh line. In this republican economy we need any reason to smile we can get.

I do care however, and it was the point of this post, that the Bishop that is supposed to be teaching Catholic doctrine would find this acceptable. Hence the point of this whole post!

  14. You’ve got a blog, Jeff. Go ahead and debate her issues. No one is stopping you. instead, you use this space for personal attacks, presenting as evidence a minor incident that occurred 16 years ago, for which the lady has apologized. You’d have to name the company Vicki wants to boycott. I recall none. A few definitions are in order. Handing out pacifiers to teachers is not hate. What the KKK and Nazis did to minorities IS hate. I’ll leave this thread, now, Jeff, because I think it is beginning to dawn on you that you’re full of hate and bile (“Chucky Sykes!”) The only problem is you feel justified in your hate. But then, haters always do.

  15. I do use my blog often to debate the issues its all we do. As a matter of fact this very post debates the issues, you made it about Vicki mckenna. For me it is about the Catholic Church and how some people are pulling it into the 21st century and some prefer it stay in the dark ages.

Because our local Bishop still prefers the dark ages, I decided to leave the church.

    Thats the issue here.

PS: Passing out pacifiers to professional teachers is HATE. Teachers are pillars of our community who do a thankless job for very little pay. The Republicans have demonized them these last two years and handing them pacifiers for wanting a say in their workplace is beyond the pale.

  16. But constantly harping on a minor, 16-year-old mistake for which the lady has apologized is not HATE? And exaggerating it to “beating a cop” (which, if true, would be a felony) is not HATE? The vandalism, threats of bodily harm, economic boycott, and lurid pornographic references to which she was subjected are not HATE? (Fact check: 1) You started this thread by condemning the bishop by guilting his association with Miss Vicki. 2) Teachers remain very well paid and benefited. Their pensions and health plans are second to none. 3) Nothing prevents your school district from shared governance approach enjoyed by the non-unionized faculty at UW-Madison)

  17. FOr the last time, I did not harp on it just pointed out how it shows her hypocrisy.

As for the rest of the claims regarding her….whatever you say. The reality is that the right wing scott walker supporters were way worse in threats, harassment, vitriol and are still doing it to this very day. Ask the appointed and unappointed Josh Inglett(let me guess, Vicki thought it was fine that he was unappointed)

As for Boycotts, it was Vicki who also pushed for boycotts of a local drinking establishment. Yet you give her a pass. As the great Gomer Pyle said – Surprise Surprise Surprise!

By the way for the record if you are such a supporter of the “free market” why wouldnt you be a supporter of people spending their money where they want too? More hypocrisy?

I condemned him for pushing the ideals of Vicki Mckenna and NOT the ideals of the one person he should be pushing!

    2. Teachers remain incredibly underpaid for the service they perform to society. Their pensions are not great at all(teachers today are not as well compensated pension wise as you are for your time working for the state), and their health plans are far from great. As for second to none, I can name one profession that has way better health care benefits than teachers. – politicians.

    3. what prevents our school district from becoming nonunionized? well for 1. the big government republicans have legislated the union basically out of existence and two. We value education so much that we want to work with our teachers….

finally, here I put it up to a vote if her despicable act in New Berlin is hate or satire!

Feel free to weigh in, unlike on Ms. Vickie’s show – all voices are welcome!

    http://cognidissidence.blogspot.com/2013/07/love-hate-or-satire.html

  18. This is getting easier!

    1) “I condemned (the bishop) for pushing the ideals of Vicki Mckenna and NOT the ideals of the one person he should be pushing!”
The sanctity of life is a Vicki McKenna idea?

    2) “Teachers … incredibly underpaid.”
You’re on the school board, should the MG teachers expect an incredible pay raise?

    3) You CAN work with your teachers — as professionals — as UW-Madison works with its faculty instead of the us vs. them attitude of most teachers unions. They’re not oppressed Appalachian coal miners, Jeff.

  19. I would have to apologize if thats true because I have never once heard her talk about the santity of life. Granted her uninformed gravelly voice gives me a headache and i can only listen a few minutes at a time…but i must have missed her advocate for the end of the death penalty, no more wars, jobs and healthcare for all, maybe you can send me a link where she advocated for the true ‘sanctity of life” and i will publicly apologize.

    2. In my time on the board, we have actually given the max raise allowable by law(big government republicans again). This year it was a whopping 2%. Unfortunately the big government wisconsin republicans feel they know best and have set out laws and eroded local control., Couple that along with perpetually cutting aid to schools and we really have a rough time even giving them such a pitance of a raise.

    3. So a union is only necessary in the Appalachian Coal Mines? im betting you even oppose those unions. I love how you use the extremes as the only possible examples.

By the way —your not polling very well over at Cog DIs

    http://cognidissidence.blogspot.com/2013/07/love-hate-or-satire.html

  20. Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. Truly, you disappoint me. Not because you are liberal (you make Walter Mondale look like the lost Koch Brother). But that you think I know so little about state and local finance. You’re not limited to giving your teachers a paltry 2% raise. Put up a referendum. Allow your friends and neighbors in Monona and Cottage Grove to show how much they love their teachers. Give The People the opportunity to blow past the revenue limits and pay teachers what they’re really worth. Two percent? Hell, make it a 10% pay hike. Give the good Democrats in MG the chance to take out a second mortgage, borrow from their retirement savings, take a second job — so that they can reward their teachers. Lead the way, my Jeff, the rest are sure to follow.

  21. Blaska’s a one-trick pony. The trick is accusing anyone of disagreeing with him of being a hater. Actually, he’s got one more: Posing as a hail fellow well met of some intellect by using literary and cultural references that belie his real self. He and Schimming and McKenna purport to know what all liberals are thinking at any given moment, which is the only hilarious part of the hatefest aired to froth up the regressive GOP base.

  22. So … I’m actually a Two-Trick Pony! But the big news is Jeff has one more vote for a 10% teacher raise in MG. Don’t let the regressive GOP base win. Put the teacher pay raise up to a referendum; ask the voters to blow the hinges off the spending caps! Democracy in action!
