Companies Doing Business with Madison Failed to File Affirmative Action Reports

There’s 30 companies doing $???? business with the City of Madison that were served Cure Default Notices for failing to submit approved Affirmative Action Plans.  Some of them should surprise you. 

Tomorrow night at 5:30 the AAC Appeals Subcommittee will hold hearings regarding the following contractors who have received Demand to Cure Default Notices for failing to submit an approved Affirmative Action Plan:

1. Action Target Inc. ($210,850, youth mentoring)
2. Acuity Specialty Products Inc. DBA Zep Sales and Service (? didn’t find)
3. Airgass North (? didn’t find)
4. Audio Visual Innovations (? didn’t find)
5. Civic Solar Inc. (? didn’t find)
6. Digital Intelligence Inc. (? didn’t find)
7. Disaster Relief & Innovative Protection Systems/DRIPS LLC/Big Bags USA (? didn’t find)
8. Fastenal Company (only found mentioned here in investment reports)
9. First Supply LLC (? didn’t find)
10. Foley & Lardner LLP (? amount unknown)
11. Ideal Creane Service Inc. (? didn’t find)
12. Imperial Supplies LLC (? didn’t find)
13. International Business Machines Corporation C/O IBM Income Tax Dept (? didn’t find)
14. Ivanti ($170,185.74, software – sole source)
15. Kessenichs LTD of America (? didn’t find)
16. Modern Leasing Inc of Iowa (? didn’t find)
17. NAPA Parts – MAD 00270 (? didn’t find)
18. New Flyer Parts/NABI; North American Business Industries (? didn’t find)
19. Northern Battery (? didn’t find)
20. OPN Inc./OPN Architects (? didn’t find)
21. Otis Elevator Co (? didn’t find)
22. Peterbilt WI Madison ($42,000, refuse truck – sole source)
23. Pictometry International Corp (Assessors office software)
24. Ritter Technology (? didn’t find)

29. Waste Management of WI Inc. ($50,000 – contaminated soils, non-competitive contract)

As you can see, many of these companies didn’t have specific services that went through the council. I looked all these names up in Legistar and found very little. Looks like the departments dealing with this companies are doing business primarily with Fleet or Metro, Engineering/Facilities and IT.  Also note, you don’t see agencies that have regular contracts through community services/community development on this list because you don’t get a contract if you don’t have all the t’s crossed and i’s dotted.  Why are nonprofits held to one standard and for-profit businesses held to a different standard?
