What’s next on the “Bench” Ordinance?

NOTE: I will update this as I hear more info . . . changing questions marks to certainties.

Well, the council introduced it last night, Mark Clear attempted to not vote on it being referred. Instead of (being allowed to) killing it quickly, it’s now referred to 5 committees. Find out where, when? and who.

If you email the alders (allalders@cityfmadison.com) or county board (County_Board_Recipients@countyofdane.com), make sure to include your address so the know you are a constituent, if you don’t have an address, tell them! cc: the mayor@cityofmadison.com

  1. Do you know that every 21 hours another college campus woman is raped by a peer? I think of the date rapes that are happening at UW Madison and how discrete these rapists are and yet all we focus on with this mayor is homelessness. He’s even quoted in the L.A. Times that he fears his daughter when she walks State Street where there are cameras around to watch. So the message from this mayor implies, keep your violence hidden, and keep up the façade of gentrification and well, keep taking your baths, brush your teeth, comb your hair and go to work and all crimes will be ignored and we will get those who have nothing. At this point I’d rather be talking about the Edgewater than to have a mayor who uses stereotypes to ignore all other issues going on in this city such as domestic abuse by his neighbors in Shorewood Hills, and oh incest happens to but you see it is polite and discreet behind closed doors. We need a mayor who doesn’t go after the least powerful in society with stereotypes. http://healthresearchfunding.org/39-date-rape-statistics-college-campuses/
