What Police Policies Need To Be Addressed?

Your input needed today at 5:30 (or email your input!)

This wasn’t on the weekly agenda until Monday, so it wasn’t in my week ahead blog, but at 5:30 the Police Policy and Procedures Review Ad Hoc Committee will be meeting. ****** They are meeting at the Doyle Administrative Building. ****** They had one substantive meeting so far, and they are setting their agenda for the things they will work on this year and report to the council in December (deadline extended from July).

Their agenda is as follows:
– Discuss procedure for establishing future agendas
– Creaton of subcommittee for RFP
– Discuss Community Policing and Body Camera Ad Hoc Committee report findings
Develop priorities, roadmap of timeline, and framework for goal of committee
– Discuss future speakers
– Discuss how committee wil respond to inquiries from public

What priorities do you think they need to address?

I know my priority isn’t going to make it to the list, but I’ll be there to voice my opinion anyways. And admittedly, my priority doesn’t compare to the life and death issues that are before them – I just don’t think people should be jailed because they are poor. And the police can stop it from happening.

If you have your own pet peeve, now is the time to speak up!!! I think the committee will nail most of the largest issues, but it would be good to have people show up in support of the most likely important topics.

Can’t make it, I’d email them.

Gotta say, I’m kinda shocked that so many people were willing to use their work email addresses for this purpose. If I could ever get appointed to anything (I can’t, I’m in the second district and unlike all the other ex-alders the mayor has appointed, apparently I’m special . . . for some raason) if I were to use my work email address, I”d be accused of being inappropriate, but apparently other city and county funded non-profits don’ seem to have those same issues.
