Walkerville Takes on Healthcare

Today’s topic! Healthcare! Complete with a boxing match! Join them at noon and 7:00!

Highlighting the Governor’s horrendous cuts to vital healthcare programs including BadgerCare, Medicaid, and FamilyCare

As part of the ongoing Walkerville protests, June 7 is ‘Healthcare Day’ where we will highlight the Governor’s horrendous cuts to vital healthcare programs including BadgerCare, Medicaid, and FamilyCare. At noon there will be a “Theater of the Oppressed” Workshop and a 7 PM mock boxing match with the opponents of quality affordable health care and long term care. There will also be an outdoor showing of the classic health care movie “Sicko” at 9 PM, followed by the sleepover.

Walkerville is a tent ‘city’ set up to call attention to Gov. Walker’s horrendous budget, which calls for devastating cuts to education, healthcare and other programs middle class families rely on. Together we will raise our voice against this unjust and immoral budget.

Who: Actors playing ‘corporate greed’ (starring Governor Walker, Senator Kapanke, Senator Alberta Darling, and DHS Secretary Dennis Smith) and actors playing ‘working Wisconsinites’ (starring nurses, seniors, and persons with disabilities).

Hundreds of seniors, homecare providers, healthcare workers, and community allies will also be in attendance.

What: “Theater of the Oppressed” workshop at 12pm; Mock boxing match at 7pm

When: Tuesday, June 7th at 12pm and 7pm
