UW Police Increasing Use of Body Cameras

Apparently, they have decided to use them and have been testing them . . .

Police Body Camera Forum

The UW-Madison Police Department is currently exploring the use of body cameras with our officers. We have been testing one body camera on various officers for the past year — through a grant, we now have more cameras which we’re looking to issue to more UWPD officers. As we work to implement those additional body cameras, we’re seeking the public’s input — we want to be as transparent as possible, and hear all of your questions, concerns, and feedback as we form a department policy on the use of police body cameras.

UWPD will host a forum on Wednesday, May 6 at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. Both forums will be held at Union South (TITU). We’ll discuss how the department will deploy the cameras, when the cameras should be used, when they should be turned off, etc. We invite your participation in this discussion!

Please fill out the form below — we will be in touch with reminders as the dates of the forum approaches. Thank you for your interest in this very important topic!
