Tuesday Morning Round Up

1/3 of the way to making this a habit . . . 21 days, right?  On day seven of consecutive round ups!

GLITCHES WITH ALL BOY CHARTER SCHOOL
Madison Community Foundation didn’t pledge $300K, claims that it would get $1.35 million in six grants of $225,000 through the state Department of Public Instruction’s charter school federal start-up fund also appear erroneous and other questions.

BADGER ROCK SCHOOL APPROVED
Unanimously.

LANDMARKS ON THE DOWNTOWN PLAN
A few concerns noted.

LISA LINK PEACE PARK GONE AWRY
Fundraising that is, need a loan from the city to make it work. Makes me nervous, will the Overture and Library run into the same problems . . .

STATE JOURNAL LIKES THE GLASS BLOCK LIBRARY
We’ll see if the library only costs $17M for the taxpayers . . . .

BAD DEVELOPERS
Actually fined!

PLOWING MODERATE SUCCESS?
I found the snow plowing quite obnoxious . . . as parking spaces downtown were used for snow storage and impossible to park in . . . at least that was true on the outer loop by the library and I see this outside my kitchen window, this car is parked on the appropriate side of the street for the snow emergency. Hancock St, looks much better.

I guess that’s just the price we pay for living downtown.

Mayor Dave Cieslewicz thinks they did a good job. He’s happy with it, thinks they did “pretty well”.

WSJ HARSHES OUT ON ESTHER BEACH
Which is to be expanded. No plans yet on what to do with it.

OVERTURE AGREEMENT
This article was written before the meeting based on the press release sent by the Mayor (who wasn’t involved in the hours of meetings to get to the agreement). And perhaps had different goal than the council members. Union members were at the meeting and could have commented, based on at least one outburst, I think they are not happy. It’s clear some are still dissatisfied but will vote for it because it is the best they can do. More than one alder said this is not the final answer and expect to be back to resolve this yet again in a few years. I think the deal fails the Cap Times goals. Details of the meeting and agreement on my blog.

WHY AREN’T THE BIKE LANES PLOWED?
Not the paths, but the lanes on the roads . . . Robbie Webber explains.

AND THEN . . . THERE’S THUY
With Dave Glomp running, most assumed something was up with Thuy Pham-Remmele . . . and she’s been encouraging me to run for a while . . . but . . .here it is . . . Lukas comments, as does Sconzie. Not a peep on thedailypage forum . . . yet. All I can hear is her saying, after nearly 4 years on the council . . . I’m still new here. If she can’t understand how the council works, could you imagine her chairing a council meeting?
