Tenant Resource Center Still Rocks At 30!

Yeah, I was 12 when the Tenant Resource Center got started . . . and 1 when the Madison Tenant Union got started . . . but I”ve been volunteering or working for TRC for 19 of the 30 years! Join us in celebrating tonight . . . and tomorrow!

TONIGHT
The Choons
Electric Spanking
People Brothers Band

all contribute their time, energy and music to benefit TRC! $5 at the door, but we’d take more if you want! High Noon Saloon . . . starting at 9:00.

Here’s a description of the bands:
Dubbed “soul-jammers” by local newspaper the Isthmus. The People Brothers Band has a diverse sound drawn from classic jam-rock, R&B, blues, folk, reggae, funk, and soul. Their eclectic mix of original songs and covers has moved dance floors and minds across the upper Midwest.

Electric Spanking is a side project of Baghdad Scuba Review. “Even with most of the members of BSR, the original material that’s coming out of ES is very different than anything we’ve done in BSR. This change of mind set allows us to explore a different genre of music.” (BSR)

Called “spy rock” by producer Cory Baker, the Choons’ music combines electronica-inspired beats, guitar that’s part new-wave angularity and part surf and jazz ambience, and an obsessive attention to melody. Their styles range from classical to classic rock, but the closest parallels are the Strokes, Vampire Weekend, and perhaps early Kings of Leon.

TOMORROW NIGHT
Back at the High Noon Saloon, 5 – 7:30, free food, cake!, silent auction and a celebration of 30 years! Short program emceed by Truly Remarkable Loon. Suggested donation $30, but you know the deal, we want everyone to attend, so donate as you can . . . every penny counts!

CAN’T MAKE IT?
You can still donate . . . 🙂
