Stunning Housing News

Wait lists are so long for public housing they are closing the housing lists as of March 1st. I haven’t seen it this bad in the 20 years I’ve been working in housing.

I just sent this email to the council, mayor, county board members and county executive. I suggest you do the same.

Wow. I’ve never seen this in the 20 years I’ve been working in housing . . . if you need proof of how impossible it is to get into low income, affordable housing, here it is. The crisis is a a whole new level.

Homeless numbers are up, housing is near impossible to obtain, waiting lists are so long they are closed, tenants rights have been stripped/landlords have new powers and there doesn’t seem to be any relief in the near future.

This. is. a. crisis. What can you do to help?

So, here’s their emails.

If you know anyone who might need housing in the next few years, I suggest you have them fill this out now, the section 8 waiting lists have been closed for years.

Here’s the lovely bomb dropped on us this morning.
