Services Available to the Homeless

We rarely get notice that there is an opening! So, here is a spot for one person – with conditions!

CAC currently has an opening in the Home for Good Supportive Housing Program to fill right away. Home for Good has space in a 1 bedroom apartment for an individual. CAC is searching for motivated individuals that want to work on specific goals regarding their disability (physical and/or mental), maintaining permanent housing and increasing their self-sufficiency. Applicants will be need to be assessed by CAC staff before being accepted into the program to ensure they meet the program requirements.

Some REQUIRED qualifications:

1. Head of Household must have a documented disability

2. Must be homeless (HUD’s definition so can’t be doubled up – has to be living in inhabitable conditions (such as on the street), coming from a transitional housing program and/or moving out of shelter)

CAC’s first permanent supportive housing program started in 2008. This is long-term community-based housing for homeless persons with a disability. This program includes intense case-management with supportive services including alcohol and drug abuse services, mental health and counseling, health related services, education assistance, child care, transportation, household goods/cleaning supplies and furniture. Participants will be assisted to obtain and remain in permanent housing; and will be assisted to increase self-sufficiency by increasing employment and/or income to maximize their ability to live independently.

If you would like to refer a potential participant, please have the staff of the referring agency contact Susan Hence at 246-4730 ext. 203.

Wonder if they checked in at the city-county building? There must be someone there that meets the requirements. Most the people I know right now are women with children that need a bigger place.
