– Brief Update on current situation at BRMS
– Governance Board updates:

b. Review of draft contract between BRMS and MMSD
c. Phase II fundraising plan data requestd. 501(c)(3)designation

5:00 Special Board of Education Meeting in Closed Session – Doyle Administration Building, 545 W. Dayton St, Room 103
– Review and receipt of advice from counsel regarding disciplinary proceedings and decisions involving an individual student,pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§19.85(1)(a), (f), and (g); 118.125; and/or 120.13(1)(e)
– Conferring with legal counsel who will render oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the Board of Education with respect to litigation in which the MMSD is or is likely to become involved, pursuant to Wis. Stat. Sec. 19.85(1)(g)

– 25 consent agenda items (I don’t know enough to know if any of these are important and there are a ton of documents submitted with them)
– – Requests for diplomas and stay in school after age 20, shortened day agreement (not attached), paying bills, approving instructional maters and reading resources, band equipment for rental, fresh fruit and vegtable program, consulting services for long-term grown study, purchasing laptops, approvals of grans and donations and human resources transaction reports.

Wednesday, March 2
11:00 a.m. Project Student Opportunities, Access and Readiness (SOAR) Press Conference – United Way of Dane County, 2059 Atwood Avenue, Third Floor Board Rooms
– The 100 Black Men of Madison are in the process of initiating Project SOAR in collaboration with established community partners to address the academic needs and exposure of these African American youth in middle and high schools in Madison It is expected that the members of the MMSD Board of Education, up to or exceeding a majority of the full membership of the Board, may attend some of the events, however, the Board will neither discuss nor take any action with respect to any school district business as part of attending any of the events associated with this event.

5:00 p.m. Wright Middle School (WMS) Governance Board Meeting – Wright Middle School, 1717 Fish Hatchery Road –
Library Media Center
– Review requested revisions to Wright’s Charter School Contract
– Debrief on conversations about Wright’s Charter Contract with MMSD Administration and MMSD Legal
– Discuss completion of Wright’s 501(c)(3) Application
– Select a Financial Institution for banking purposes
