Round Up from Door County

I know, I know, I should just step away from the computer . . . if it helps, I’m drinking a Guinness in a bar while waiting for the music to start while writing a portion of it . . . and even tho we camped last night, I’m finishing it up a comfy hotel room.

GREEN ROOFS REQUIRED BY LAW
No, not in Madison, yet. 🙂

I THINK MANY OF YOU HAVE MET ME BUT . . .
A vote for me for the blogger thing would be kind of nice if you’re a loyal reader. 🙂 Two smiley faces and it has nothing to do with the Guinness, its not even half gone yet.

UW TUITION GOING UP, UP, UP
5.5%. Wow, I thought everything was about the economy. I wonder how many Wisconsin students aren’t going to be going to college next year because of the economy and the increase? I wish there was a way for colleges to be free, instead of more and more for the elite. I’m glad my tuition was cheap, I could work a ton of hours in Wisconsin Dells in the summer, I got an RA position my second year in and I got pell grants and other assistance to go to college, cuz my parents could have never paid for it.

WHAT’S THE MOST EXPENSIVE UW PROJECT EVER?
Charter St. Coal Plant. I hope the two issues are not connected.

DO YOU THINK THE WATER UTILITY IS DOING GREAT?
Maybe it is me being out of the loop, but I don’t think its doing better. Where’s the replacement for well 3 and what’s the process, they’ve been working on that for years, 3 at least. I don’t feel informed about what is going on. Or perhaps, nothing is?

RAW MILK DISPUTE
Wow, I find this interesting legally. I wonder who wins?

RUMMEL THE LORAX
She speaks for the trees.

I’M TIRED OF THE STATISTICS
I want someone to do a story that shows a trend, not a moment in time. It doesn’t tell me anything. I want to see charts that show a year or two of data so we can see the trends and better be able to understand it. The same with car sales, and jobs and foreclosures. I just stopped reading these articles cuz they say one thing one month and another another month and you can’t make heads or tails of the information when they compare it to last month or how things were a year ago, because you don’t know those numbers in context. Up or down from what? And how does that rate compared to the previous time period?

WHY ISN’T BRUSH PICK UP A BASIC SERVICE?
This was one of the dumber decisions by the council. They should hire an extra person or two in streets and let them get their work done. The people who pick up brush can also plow our streets and do many other things, and they are needed.

EXPOSING THE INSIDER POLITICS
I’m so glad channel 3 did their editorial, and Morrissey follows up. They’re not third party folks like myself who grew tired of the crap from the major parties years ago, but even they are getting fed up. We need a new system, public financing of campaigns, and a way to help independents run for office.

IT DOES SEEM LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON STATE ST. FOREVER
It was one of the first committees I was appointed to, like high speed rail and E Washington Oversight Committee. All seem to be taking forever.

There seems like there should be more . . . but that’s all I got . . . for now.
