Recyclopedia’s Now Available . . . On-line

They are no longer printed, and there are some changes you should know about- many more items can be recycled.

Congratulations Madison! 66% of our solid wastes are diverted from our landfills!

As you may recall, we will no longer be mailing the Recyclopedia.  The 2012 edition is now available on line at http://www.cityofmadison.com/streets/documents/recyclopedia.pdf

The 2012 Recyclopedia has information on all the changes that will be coming to the curbside recycling program in 2012 so be sure to check it out.

To save you some time, here’s some things you will now be able to recycle in 2012:

ADDITIONAL MOSTLY METAL ITEMS
– pots and pans
– small metal appliances such as toasters
– empty metal paint cans
– plumbing fixtures

PLASTIC BAGS
Curbside! They have to be put inside a plastic bag and it has to be tied shut so they don’t get tangled in the equipment.

PLASTIC
They are now accepting:
– all plastic bottles
– all jugs
– all containers numbered 1-7

This includes
– dairy tubs
– deli containers (lids should be separate)
– clamshells
– produce containers (with lids)
– plastic cups
– caps on plastic bottles and jugs and they can remain on the container
– plastic tubs lids but they should be should be separate
