Quick Notes from Airport Meeting on Noise

Thanks to Mary Jo Walters who attended the Airport meeting and took these notes and photos! Airport paid homeowners $2,000 for easements years ago saying they are ok with the noise . . . end of story?

NOTES SUBMITTED BY MARY JO WALTERS (Thank you!)

The chair Bill introduced himself to me at the beginning of the meeting. At the beginning a man named Perry ? (County Board) asked the military does the noise counter Account for the noise that was already here.

The meeting started with a discussion of a resolution about massage chairs.

Then, Mead and Hunt will be contracted for various services.

The Next resolution had to do with solar array by M G and E. 200.00 dollars an acre. Near the quarry, near highway 51. Thirty year lease. 5 year option as well. 40% generation of electricity will be generated. They are tracking grid to be able to move the panels if there is glare that distracts the pilots. FAA approves it. 67 acres total, the land is currently used as farm land. There is a lease agreement. Perry opposed the panels near the runways.

Lease for overflow parking for Hertz was the final resolution.

There are four people here that are not on the commission. Two military workers to answer questions about the EIS.

An Activity report the director went to Alaska airways, and American Airlines. Epic was satisfied with their event.

The guard are here for questions.

The director of airport presented the F-35 impact the airport, worse case assumptions are what the EIS does. Households not being inhabitable, a noise study of 1 million dollars, might double in cost. There is a grant application. The FAA is being consulted. Doing a study when the f-35 are here was discussed. The airport can no post limits on the guard. We have no authority over the aircrafts.

The director then explained Easements. That homeowners were paid 2,000 dollars an easement, years ago. The airport attorney reviewed the easements. There is not money for migration. Home owners who signed an agreement that gives people a contract which says they are ok with the airport noise. The agreement goes out to anyone who owns the property. No notices have gone out. The EIS references these easements.
Car 1 part-noise study is being requested by the director to happen before the F-35s come. Money maybe available for home owners that have not signed an easement.

Anne Tigen presented. Asked about children and the easements. And stated that children well being must be considered.

The director will put the information about easements on the website, or it’s available by freedom of information.

Jackson Foote presented the street map of the noise contour. No further testing is planned for the Air Force. Civilian and military noise is tracked.
The military is 3% of the traffic.

Joint use agreement is voted on at the Commission and the whole board. In January. Lease and a joint lease agreement is up for redraft, there is no limit to the National Guard in anyway. Fire and rescue service is provided by the board.

Next meeting is in October.
