The City of Madison still has nearly 400 shifts to fill for the April 5 election. As of today, we are hiring Dane County residents to work at the polls.
Sign up online at www.cityofmadison.com/EO. The language on the website says you must be a Madison resident but, given the number of vacancies left to fill, we are now hiring Dane County residents.
There are three shifts available:
1. 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (a.m. shift)
2. 1 p.m. to close (p.m. shift)

ELECTION OFFICIALS HIRING FAIR TOMORROW

The City of Madison Clerk’s Office will be holding a special Election Official Hiring Fair on March 24 from 5-7pm at the Urban League, 2222 S Park St #200.
There will be a brief presentation and a mock polling place set up so that prospective applicants can see what tasks they would be performing on Election Day. Staff from the Clerk’s Office will be on hand to answer questions and to schedule new hires for shifts on the spot. The City Clerk’s Office anticipates needing to fill an additional 300 shifts for the April 5th Presidential Primary.
Election Officials are paid an hourly living wage of $12.83 per hour and work either or both of two shifts starting at 6am and at 1pm. One hour of training is required prior to each election and is also paid, which adds up to a little over $100 for each shift worked. Tuesday election dates for 2016 and 2017 are the April 5th Presidential Primary, the August 9th State and Local Primary, the November 8th Presidential Election as well as local elections on February 21stand April 4th in 2017.
In order to be hired to work at the polls, applicants must by residents of the City of Madison, US citizens, at least 18 years of age, without a felony conviction and able to read, speak and write in English including following written and verbal instructions. All qualified applicants are encouraged to attend the event. Applicants may also apply online at www.cityofmadison.com/EO. Those applying online will receive an assignment via email within a few days.
