Police to Clear Homeless at 5:00 10/1

Police announce plans to sweep homeless from the city-county building. Will it be necessary, probably not. People will just find a new place to go and create annoyances elsewhere – until they are swept out of their new locations. Our city is absurd. Can we just work to solve the problems instead of moving them?

Talk about wasted resources . . . is this what you expect your police to be doing? And, ahem, is this social work with a badge? Is that what that looks like?

Greetings,

As most of you are aware the building rules at the CCB have been updated beginning on October 1, 2015.

The new rules basically bring the exterior of the building in line with the rules on the inside of the building.

Effective on the evening of October 1, 2015, it will now be prohibited to be on the CCB property (interior and exterior) after business hours, unless on official business at City/County meetings.

Process:
– Messaging from County Facilities and outreach workers has been ongoing for last several weeks to update those on property of rule changes.
– October 1, 5:00pm
o Facilities staff along with MPD will collaborate to clear property of persons and property.
o MPD will seek compliance with people
o Facilities will seek compliance with property and remove all that is not claimed.

Rules Changes as of Oct. 1 2015
– No persons allowed on property after 5:00pm weekday and 24/7 on weekends of CCB unless engaged in official business of County or City, or as part of officially permitted events on week nights or weekends.

MADISON MUNICIPAL BUILDING
– As most of you are aware, the MMB has been posted for several years with no trespassing along with building rules of No persons allowed on property after 5:00pm weekday and 24/7 on weekends unless engaged in official business of City, or as part of officially permitted events on week nights or weekends.
– Attached are the locations of signs and the property line for the MMB property.
– As shown at MMB, the steps and benches are part of the MMB property and should be enforced accordingly.
– MMB facilities staff will monitor property for items left/abandoned and tag these each day. They will remove is necessary.
