Need a Neighborhood Center – Speak Up!

The city is taking a year off from making decisions about which neighborhoods get resources and doing a study. If you feel like your neighborhood has needs, now is the time to let them know. They won’t be competing with other non-profits for funding, their money will be set aside and they will get the same amount of money as they did last year (with a cost of living increase?).

The City of Madison Community Development Division is doing a study on neighborhood centers that includes the following:
– Role of neighborhood centers in the human service delivery system in Madison.
– The different neighborhood center models that currently exist in Madison.
– Neighborhood center models in other parts of the country.
– Demographics of citizens served by neighborhood centers compared with the demographics of the whole city.
– Analysis of the need for neighborhood centers and their programs compared with what is currently available.
– Analysis of the gap between need and current capacity.
– Needs analysis for new and/or improved neighborhood centers.
– Information that will inform potential future Capital dollar expenditures.
– Information that will inform the allocation of future operating allocations to neighborhood centers.
