MRFY: Doing Great Work Around Homeless Youth

I continue to be surprised by the numbers of homeless people on the streets, hidden all over the city. Perhaps some of the most compelling stories come from the young people – many of them out there on their own. Check this out.

The Harsh Realities of Youth Homelessness
Soup Supper – 6 p.m.

Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Free Event – Reservation Requested

Location:
First United Methodist Church
203 Wisconsin Ave.
Madison, WI  53703

Make Room for Youth (MRFY) was founded in December 2010 by a small group of citizens determined to ensure that safe places to stay are available to all youth in Dane County. A short film by film maker Will Nimmow tells the stories of youth who were homeless and alone in Madison. While their stories are compelling, they give a glimpse into the world of scores of others in our community. The film includes the voice of MRFY’s street outreach worker who poignantly ties the two stories to the stories of 10, 20, 50 or more youth still on their own in the streets of our community. Leaders from the Madison Schools’ Transitional Education Program (TEP) and from MRFY will join us for the film and discussion and the evening will close with shared action on behalf of homeless youth.

Please contact Karen Andro, Director of Outreach Ministries, with any questions.
