Monday Morning Round Up . . .

Here’s what I have . . . hopefully caught up from last week . . . I think I heard a loon while I was working on this post this morning. It’s nice to sleep with the windows open.

WOW, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!
Nike contract cut at the UW!

CAMPUS ELECTIONS – HIGH OR LOW TURN OUT?
Badger Herald says high. Wisconsin State Journal says low.

LINE JUMPERS
ALRC members skip to the head of lines to get into bars. And I’m surprised to learn this: “Mayor Dave Cieslewicz requires ALRC members to attend a tour of establishments or take part in a police ride-along each year, Verveer said.” Really? Maybe they shouldn’t be appointed if they have so little experience.

CLEAR WON’T BE ANNOINTED WITHOUT A CHALLENGE
Palm or Rummel, but someone will be running and I suspect the “anyone but Clear” votes will win. I still think Cnare should run, she has the votes easily.

TWO DECADES TO GET A LIBRARY
In Fitchburg . . . and if I recall correctly, the bus doesn’t go here.

GET ER DONE
I love the push to get the library done, but what is it that we’re getting done? Anyone know? What will it look like, what will it include, and where will the library go during rebuilding? And how is it they don’t need to amend the budget? I agree, rebuilding is better, better lets be reasonable and not rush into it before we make more mistakes.

WILL THEY BLOG THEIR LOBBYING REPORTS?
🙂 Somehow I doubt it. More on the lobbyists on the trip here.

KEEP DOWNTOWN ROADS OPEN
The railroad has been running through downtown Madison for years and there haven’t been major safety issues, see the article for an email to send your comments to help keep the roads open.

STATE PHONE NUMBER ON CAMPAIGN WEBSITE
Wow, just wow. Perhaps drinking a little too much Leinenkugel on that campaign?

WYOU PLEDGE DRIVE EXTENDED
The internet stream is back up, so check out the schedule and try again this week. If you like what you see, don’t forget to donate! WYOU needs YOU to keep going! Donate! Donate! Donate! Please. (And hey, mention my show “This Side of Town” when you do!)

MORLINO’S CONSPIRACY THEORIES
Lueders looks into what is the latest thing to make him hopping mad.

NOW CAMPAIGN FINANCE VIOLATIONS MATTER?
It didn’t matter in my race, Blanchard said he didn’t have time for such matters. I wasn’t even the one to notify them, the City Clerk’s Office did on their own in my race. I hope this time the Deputies are not let off the hook.

LABOR INTENSIVE
It’s ok Noble Wray, you have 30 police officers who can check up on if people locked their doors, you can probably get them to actually enforce laws too, eh?

WORK HARDER TO FIND A SOLUTION
This is kinda absurd, there has to be a better solution, preferably one where the city doesn’t charge the school for whatever it is. Safe crossings by schools should be a priority.

EVEN WSJ THINKS SOUTHWORTH IS NUTTY
Now you know he has gone to far with his threat to prosecute teachers for following the law, the Wisconsin State Journal even thinks so!
