Madison City Council Recap 2/25/20

Not much slated to be talked about, recap of Madison City Council meeting lasting just a little over one hour.  They referred Amazon, dogs in parks, AirBNB and more.

GETTING STARTED

Mayor calls the meeting to order.  All there except Christian Albouras is excused, Samba Baldeh and Marsha Rummel were not there when the roll was called.  Arvina Martin was going to be late.

They suspend the rules to take items out of order and introduce them at the end of the meeting.

Petitions and Communications – Item #5 (Appeal of Plan Commission action concerning 3630 Milwaukee Street, Legistar File 58787.) was referred to 3/17 for a public hearing.

There are registrants available to answer questions on items 40 (Stefan Davidson and Justice Casteneda representing Commonwealth Development) and 50 (Jeff Novak, Brenda Gonazlez).

There are no disclosures or recusals.

Mayor asks to be added to number 68 as a co-sponsor.

They pass everything but the public hearing items 6, 7 and 8 and the honoring resolutions 1 – 4.

HONORING RESOLUTIONS 

These items take an hour and 7 minutes of the hour and 17 minute meeting.

  1. Condemning the deportation of Southeast Asian Madisonians and throughout the United States, and calling for an end to these practices.

2. Recognizing February 2020 as Black History Month in the City of Madison.

3. Affirming the principles of fundamental human rights and equality for people of Kashmir and encouraging Congress to call for the Indian government to conduct an independent and thorough investigation of all human rights violations in Kashmir.

4. Commending the University of Wisconsin Women’s Volleyball Team for its outstanding 2019 season.

PUBLIC HEARINGS

They open the public hearing, there are no registrants, they recess the public hearing and its re-referred to the Plan Commission.

#8 Creating Section 28.022 — 00419 of the Madison General Ordinances to change the zoning of property located at 935 West Johnson Street, 8th Aldermanic District, from TR-U2 Traditional Residential – Urban District 2) District to CI (Campus Institutional) District

The public hearing is opened and recessed the public hearing, there were no registrants.  It is referred to the March 9th Plan Commission meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

No announcements, no additional referrals, just adjourned and done.
