Longest Night Rememberance Today at 3:00

Please join MUM, First Congregational UCC, Lake Edge UCC, Lakeview Lutheran Church, Grace Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21st, 2015 for the Longest Night Homeless Persons Memorial Service. We will gather to remember our brothers and sisters who died this year and who were homeless, to celebrate their lives and mourn their death. As we do every year we gather at the Capitol Square at the intersection of East Main/South Pinckney and King streets, near the marble bench where Dwayne Warren died on June 16th, 2009.

The service will include prayer, reflection and remembrances of our neighbors who have died this year. We will begin with music and have a procession around the Capitol Squre led by a horse drawn hearse. The service will conclude at 4:00 p.m. and those who are able will walk to the men’s shelter at Grace Episcopal Church to wait in community with the men seeking shelter there for the night.

Members of the community are invited to attend and, if able, to bring donations of warm gloves, socks, hats and thermal underwear for donation to the men’s and women’s shelters. If you are unable to attend and would like to drop off donations of items they can be dropped off at MUM, 2300 S. Park St. Suite 2022, Madison, WI 53713.
