The Homeless Issues Committee met on May 13th. The members requested that County Board Supervisors be informed about the actions they took at that meeting. They acted on two resolutions:

· Res. 068 – Funding for a Centrally Located Permanent Day Resource Center: amendment moved to eliminate lines 59-61 “Additionally, due to the continued need for services downtown, it is expected that Dane County would continue to fund Bethel Lutheran’s homeless services program Monday through Friday at $30,000 per year even after the new center opens”; amendment passed 9-0. Motion as amended passed 7-2.

· Res. 305 – Authorizing the Purchase of 1409 Martin Street: motion to request that the County Board delay action on Res. 305 until additional information can be provided regarding the site and Res. 86 is acted on, continue the consideration of Res. 305 at the next Homeless Issues Committee meeting, request that staff supply financial details regarding the cost of renovations, future expansion, water and sewer, sprinkler system and compare this to similar costs for the Marc East location. Motion passes 7-1.

Any questions in this regard can be addressed to the Chair of the Committee, Supervisor Wegleitner.
