It’s May! (City) Week Ahead

Time to plant some things!! Or at least get ready to . . . which is why this is later than usual.

Monday, May 3, 2010
4:00 PM EOC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ROOM 523 CCB
There are sooooo many good issues here, that we seem to never ultimately hear about.
– Amendments to the Equal Opportunities Ordinance
– Resolution supporting the adoption of the Final Report of the Task Force on Racial Disparities in the Criminal Justice System and its recommendations
– City Policy in Use of Paid Leave for Bone Marrow or Organ Donation
– Community Development Authority (CDA) Redevelopment Projects: Eminent Domain and Issues of Race
– Alcohol License Review Committee (ALRC) and Process for Informing the Committee of Complaints
– Feasibility of testing taxi cabs relative to requiring that fares be paid in advance.

4:00 PM LONG RANGE PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE ROOM 108 CCB
They’ll get to discuss the following:
– Memorial Policy
– Parking Regulations in Park Parking Lots
– Alcohol Ban in Parks
– Role of Volunteers
– Ice Rink Enhancement
– Behavioral Study of Parks
– Unenforced Rules and Regulations
(No links or attachments, so we can’t actually see what the proposals are that they will be discussing if there are any. I think they dropped a few things off this list – like parking policies. Which seems strange given the recent discussion on Olin Turville Parking)

Tuesday, May 4, 2010
4:00 PM COMMON COUNCIL PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION: PROCESS TO HIRE ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING FIRM FOR CENTRAL LIBRARY PROJECT ROOM 103A CCB

4:00 PM HABITAT STEWARDSHIP SUBCOMMITTEE ROOM 108 CCB
– Fireworks in Parks
– No signs in Trees
– Mulching of Trees
– Trimming Trees Near Solar Panels
– Olin-Turville Conservation Efforts
(No links to any of these items even tho there were hand out at the last meetings.)

5:00 PM COMMON COUNCIL – DISCUSSION, PRESENTATION ON THE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PLAN 2011-2016 ROOM 201 CCB
– You should check out the plans! Do you see the road improvements that you think should be done in the next 5 years. Too bad they don’t include the map.

6:00 PM CONSOLIDATED HEARINGS BEFORE THE BOARD OF POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSIONERS, MAY CONVENE INTO CLOSED SESSION 201 W. MIFFLIN ST.
– A complaint filed against officers Officers Reginald Patterson and Jerry Goehring
and Detective Al Rickey as well as Captain Carl Gloede. The names of the people filing the complaint are quite familiar (Richard Rathmann and Roy Schenck), the police have attorneys. There is no more information available and they will likely go into closed session so we will likely not know much more.

6:30 PM COMMON COUNCIL ROOM 201 CCB
#2 – Appeal of decision to kill geese at Warner Park
#27 – Getting tough on the bars, more reasons for them to lose points on their licenses.
#56 – Whittling away at the Alcohol License Density Ordinance, removing the 365 day ordinance restriction for transferring the license – its a temporary lift on the restriction.
#65 – Supporting the new plan for the Downtown Library. (Currently, there is only 4 sponsors, interesting.)
#70 – Emerging Neighborhood Fund allocations
#108 – Annual Local Purchasing Report – Hint, take a peak, we actually have less local purchasing than before we passed the ordinance. It got so watered down, I took my name off and it looks like I’m right. Even if the bus purchase is taken into accounts, we’re still down from 2008.
#109 – Dealing with committee commission and board members who don’t fill out their Statement of Interest forms on time.
#110 – Low income bus pass program final report. (The agenda is a little messed up, paper reports this being referred to TPC, not what the agenda says.)
#111 – Police overtime report – not attached so we don’t know what it says – actually its to be referred is what the guess is.
#112 & 113 – Internet prostitution ordinance.
#116 & #117CDA Executive Director
#118 – Report on Racial Disparities in the Criminal Justice System
