Subject: Appointment of Interim Community Development Division Director

Hickory Hurie is being appointed interim Community Development Division Director effective February 16, 2012. This is a provisional appointment for up to six months under ordinance 3.53(6)(e).

Hickory served as the City of Madison’s Community Development Grants Supervisor from 1980 to 2008 and the City’s Community Coordinator from 1978 to 1980. Since 2008, he has been a partner in the Community Planning Development Advisors consulting firm.

This interim appointment is necessary until a permanent hire is completed. Bill Clingan, the current Director, is leaving City service on March 2. Bill will assist Hickory in his new duties until then. I want to thank Bill for his dedicated leadership of the Division.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact Anne Monks on my staff.

Sincerely,

Paul R. Soglin
Mayor
