BASSETT/DAYTON/JOHNSON DEVELOPMENT – NOVEMBER 2
Alder Verveer will be holding a meeting on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 7:00pm at the Doubletree Hotel to provide information and gather neighborhood input on the development proposal for properties on the block of N Bassett, W Dayton, W Johnson streets.

The properties in question were identified in the draft Downtown Plan for a future city park. The two owners of the affected properties, Scott Faust and Ron Fedler, are proposing the development of student oriented, high-rise apartments. They want the city to make a land use decision on the properties before the Downtown Plan is approved. They are proposing a 12 story building on Johnson St and a 3 or 6 story building on Dayton St. The properties are in Design Zone 2 which allows up to 12 stories on Johnson and 3 stories on Dayton. They are looking at a 6 story option as they expect rezoning will allow at least 6 stories on their (north) side of Dayton as the Downtown Plan proposes 6 stories on the south side of Dayton.

GEBHARDT PROJECT/700 E WASHINGTON – NOVEMBER 2
7:00, location tbd

As your Tenney Lapham Council’s Neighborhood Development chairperson, I invite you to give feed back on a proposed development that fronts on the 700 block East Washington and continues through to East Mifflin. This property was part of the Don Miller parcel purchased by the city. Many of you saw the developer’s proposal last week at the annual meeting/Spaghetti dinner. A link to a pdf of the proposal:

http://www.bark-design.com/tlna/700N-Gebhardt.pdf

Now is the time to roll up our sleeves and help the developer guide this project into a win win solution for both the neighborhood and the city. To that end, I am meeting with the developer next week. I would like to have a small committee of 4 or 5 people to sit down to a few meetings and hash this through with them. Once we have things well underway, we will hold another public meeting to show results and get more feedback.

Please send me comments on the proposal as presented in the pdf , and also let me know if you are willing and able to serve on the development committee. I would appreciate volunteers contacting me soon. (David Waugh)

WILLY ST DRIVE-WAY EXITS – NOVEMBER 7
What has been your experience with the Jenifer St. driveway?

JENIFER ST. DRIVEWAY MEETING
Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center
953 Jenifer Street (parking available in the church parking lot)
Monday, November 7th
7:00pm-8:30pm

You are invited to a meeting to discuss your experiences with the Jenifer St. driveway specifically, and traffic flow around Willy East in general, to help us shape the long term use of the driveway onto Jenifer St.

We stated prior to installation of the driveway that our intention was to make the driveway egress-only, right-turn-only after construction concluded. However, we have been cautioned that converting the Jenifer St. driveway in this way, short of a full re-installation, may pose safety risks, especially during winter conditions.

Due to that concern, we anticipate continuing to use the Jenifer St. driveway in its current configuration until spring 2012. Between now and then we will conduct a traffic study to compare the Jenifer St. driveway’s impact on the conditions we studied on Williamson and Jenifer Streets before the driveway was installed. This new traffic study, combined with the input we receive from public comment and that we are soliciting from traffic experts, will allow us to make an informed decision about the driveway’s long-term use. Currently, options we consider possible range from closing the Jenifer Street driveway indefinitely to keeping it as a two-way, ingress/egress to something in between.

If you can’t attend the meeting but wish to have your voice heard, please e-mail us or post a public comment on our Jenifer St. driveway comments page. We will add your input to our considerations. If you have any questions, please e-mail them or post them on the comments page; we will add them to the FAQ page as we are able.

Signed,
Anya Firszt, Dan Frost, Lynn Olson, Wynston Estis, Brendon Smith
