I’m Sick (and Tired) Round Up

Why do I have a cold this time of the year? This is stupid. Anyways, slept in since I worked til 11:00 last night, so my blogging will be slow this morning. Well, “worked” is a bit of silly notion, since once I work past 40 hours, I’m not really getting paid any more as a salaried employee . . . I was at the Community Services Committee watching the decision making on who gets funded next year. And now, I’m at work, getting everyone else sick . . . brilliant, eh? Yup, I’m one of those people.

COMMUTER RAIL A THREAT TO MADISON BUSES
Or is it Mayor Dave?

BLASKA
I just have to point this out, he’s more annoying than me, and his blog is less popular than mine on his own home turf. Just sayin’. You might wonder why I bring this up . . . well, we taped an Access City Hall show with Stuart Levitan, and he really annoyed me, to say the least. I think it’ll be worth watching. I’ll let you know when to see it when I get the dates, but I think it airs for the first time on Friday.

IF THAT”S WHAT IT TAKES
Yay! School funding! It’s kind of a shame that its not because school are something important that we have to invest in . . . but instead, to save jobs in this economy. Yes, teachers jobs are important, but it seems the focus is off just a little bit.

WOW, DEPORTED THREE TIMES?
And yet, still comes back . . . something is really broken. I wonder how much money we’re spending for this ridiculous system . . . or is it ok because it . . . say it with me . . . has created jobs. Will real reform ever get here?

WHAT POLICE SHOULD BE DOING
I don’t mind when extra police efforts are put into working on real crime issues.

POLICE WASTING THEIR TIME
I do care when police are just pushing problems around with no impact on the root issues involved. How are they going to “nudge” homeless inside, when people have used up their annual number of days in shelter? Your hard earned tax dollars at work!

THIS IS WRONG
McDonald’s Corporation is getting the money, not the franchise?

BUY A HOUSE FOR $1
In Milwaukee . . . and only if your house has been flooded, but still . . . you don’t see that very often.

TRAIN STATION
I think I missed this story yesterday, but apparently, there isn’t much to report. ???

11% OF PEOPLE IN WISCONSIN LIVE IN POVERTY
Why is Madison at 17% . . . and given how much more expensive it is to live here, are our poor worse off than the rest of Wisconsin? And what are we doing about it?
