Help Build a Hoop House this Weekend

Gotta hand it to these Occupy folks . . . they are tenacious and creative. And still here! I interviewed some of them on WORT the other day if you want to listen. Anyways, here’s the hoop house info.

Come join Occupy Madison at our three-day work party, from Friday Dec. 2nd to Sunday, Dec. 4th at the Occupy Madison site on the 800 block of E. Washington.

Help us construct a 20′ x 36′ farm-style passive solar “hoop house” that will be a community space and the future home of our General Assemblies. Join us for an hour or two, or all three days. No previous building experience is required, and tools and materials, and training will be provided.

Here’s the plan:
Friday, Dec. 2nd: 10am-5pm: Making parts for the hoop house frame
Saturday, Dec. 3rd: 10am-5pm: Assembling the flooring built by an earlier work party and assembling the frame
Sunday, Dec. 4th: Covering the hoop house, adding doors and ventilation.

We will have a wide assortment of hand and power tools available, but more electric drills and screwdrivers (especially cordless) will help us get the job done quicker. Please contact Steve (outreach@wnpj.org) if you have tools to lend, or if you have questions. Rain and/or snow are likely on Saturday, so please dress warmly.
