Going to the Police Policy Committee or the Police Policy Committee?

One’s at noon (grr) and wasn’t published til Monday (grr), the other is at 5:30 tonight!

I guess its good they are meeting and there is discussion about these issues . . . too bad the community isn’t exactly invited – at least to the noon meeting. (P.S. This is probably a comment about the staff who scheduled this meeting more than the alders on the committee.)

12:00 PM Common Council Organizational Committee Subcommittee on Police & Community Relations City-County Building 210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Room 417 Madison, WI 53703
– Discussion: Timeline for Recommendations to Council
– Discussion: Presentation Schedule for Future Meetings – Heather Allen, Capt. Jim Wheeler
– Discussion: Future Presentations from Outside Groups | Prioritization – ACLU, CRT, Rep. Chris Taylor, Colleen Clark (County Effort to Reduce Disparities in Arrests), etc.

The amusing (not so amusing) thing about this meeting is its held in a room that can’t hold more than a dozen people, but it says this . . . “POSSIBLE QUORUMS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, COMMON COUNCIL ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITTEE AND MPD POLICY & PROCEDURE AD HOC COMMITTEE MAY EXIST AT THIS MEETING” Clearly this is not a meeting where they are expecting the public or members of other committees to show up.

5:30 PM Madison Police Department Policy & Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Room 351, Madison, WI 53703
– Presentation from OIR Group.
– Identify next steps including identifying MPD subject matter experts to invite to the committee
