Demolish houses on 200 E Mifflin surrounding the Frank Lloyd Wright Lamp House?

James Madison Park Neighborhood will be meeting tonight to discuss two proposals from Apex to either demolish several houses on the 200 block of E Mifflin and build an 11 story building OR build on top of the McCormick/Capitol North Parking Ramp. See below for pictures of the concepts proposed as well as the most of the houses to be demolished or impacted by this project. (Sorry about the weird spacing . . . )

I have a couple bad pictures of the renderings of the two concepts:

Parking Ramp Rendering – proposed adding stories to the parking ramp for housing.

And the 200 E Mifflin Rendering – proposed tearing down all the houses on the 200 block of E. Mifflin, with perhaps houses on Webster and N Butler as well.

With the parking ramp proposal, its hard to know exactly what it proposed, as this is the second rendering provided, but at least one previous proposal from another developer included demolishing three houses on N Hamilton and I don’t recall if there were any more.

With the 200 N Mifflin project, the rendering appears to require the following demolitions:

For those of you interested, the grand daddy . . . the Frank Lloyd Wright Lamp House . . .22 N Butler which is not proposed for demolition, but instead would be viewed from the cut out in the building.

I couldn’t really take a picture that would do the house justice.  Check the link above.  Or a more recent/more accurate picture here on flickr.

So, we should learn more tonight.  And then create a steering committee to work with Apex.  The neighborhood started a website/blog, which will likely be updated as the project progresses.
