Greetings from the Dane County Department of Human Services!

Recently, the Dane County Department of Human Services (DCDHS) kicked off our five-year strategic planning process (which we are calling Vision: Next), with all of our employees. Today I am reaching out to let you, our valuable partners and collaborators, know this process is starting and what we hope to achieve throughout the next six months.

It is our intention that through the Vision: Next process the Department will develop a visionary strategic plan, with no more than 5 strategic initiatives, that will guide decision making at all levels of our organization and clearly signal where we are going to all citizens and stakeholders. To do this we need the help of our employees, our stakeholders, and Dane County citizens. The variety of voices will help the department create a plan that thoughtfully considers the viewpoints, needs, and desires of our various stakeholders as we develop our vision for the future of DCDHS and human services in Dane County. Involving our employees and other organizations serving the needs of Dane County residents will help build greater alignment across our organizations and hopefully add transparency in DCDHS’s decision making processes.

Throughout the process we intend to reach out to stakeholders to help us understand the current and potential future state of human services in Dane County, answer surveys, and engage in other ways. The Department has created a website that we plan to use to communicate about upcoming engagement opportunities, post surveys, and let stakeholders know about what we are hearing and what we intend to do with it. I encourage you to keep an eye on our website for regular updates throughout the process. In the near future we will be able to use this website to build email lists and send updates via email.

If you have questions about the process please submit those on our website and we will update our FAQ page. You can also reach out to Michele Dickinson, our Planning & Evaluation Manager, with additional thoughts or questions about our Vision: Next activities.

I look forward to working with you to help define the Department’s vision for the next five years.   Thank you for your care of the Dane County community.

Stay tuned!

WEBSITE

I visited the website.

My favorite part was this:

  • Require the candid confrontation of critical issues by participants and the willingness to engage in occasionally challenging conversations that cause us to question our assumptions and confront our comfort with the status quo.

The frustrating part was when I clicked on this

Dane County Human Services "Vision: Next" planning FAIL!

I got this (I tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome)

Dane County Human Services "Vision: Next" planning FAIL!

Dane County Human Services "Vision: Next" planning FAIL!

Dane County Human Services "Vision: Next" planning FAIL!

So I can’t tell you anything more at the moment. And this part of the email was a FAIL!

If you have questions about the process please submit those on our website and we will update our FAQ page.

I have questions!  Will let you know more when I know more.  Likely through the weekly “Round Up”
