Court Decides Unelected Decision Makers Matter

You do see the irony here, right? The right hand trying to take away power from citizen committees because only elected officials should decide important matters. The left hand, arguing in court that only the unelected citizen committee can make these important decisions . . . If you ask me, it shows a severe lack of integrity. How do you trust someone who makes inconsistent, convenient, politically expedient arguments like that?

Subject: Court Rules for City in 911 Center Dispute with County

At a hearing this afternoon, Dane County Judge Juan Colas ruled that only the Dispatch Center Board, not the County Executive or the Dispatch Center Director, has the authority to change the treatment of the dispatch of parking enforcement calls from the City of Madison. The Judge also ruled that the Dispatch Center Board had authority over the decision to implement the auto-attendant or phone tree.

At the request of the City, the Judge kept in place his existing injunction for a period of 7 days, since the Dispatch Center Board meets next Wednesday. At that time, the new order will take effect.
