County Board Redistricting Meeting Tonight

They are a little more political than the city is on this . . . so its more important to have more input and more eyes on the process. I hope some folks can make it tonight. Thanks to Melissa Sargent for the update on the meeting.

The County Board will hold a public hearing on the tentative plan on Thursday, May 5th, 2011 at 7:30PM following the regular County Board meeting in Room 201 of the City County Building. Citizens and municipal officials will be able to present testimony to the entire county board on the tentative supervisory plan.

At its meeting on April 27th, the Redistricting Subcommittee of the Executive Committee recommended that the County Board retain 37 supervisory districts, with a target population of 13,191. Districts contained on average 11,528 residents after the 2000 census, so there has been significant growth in the last ten years. The subcommittee recommended approval of Supervisor Plan 37B. Following any changes resulting from the hearing, the County Board will take final action on the plan at its May 19th meeting, and then forward it to municipalities for review and drawing of ward boundaries.

The tentative supervisory district plan, and other redistricting information, is available on the County Board’s redistricting web page, which can be found at : http://countyofdane.com/board/redistricting.aspx
