Cottage Grove – open for clients…

Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, and honest lobbyist, and an old drunk were walking along when they simultaneously spotted a hundred-dollar bill laying in the street. Who gets it?
The old drunk, of course, the other three are mythological creatures.

We saw that with the turning of Wisconsin red in the last election, that the middle class was not the only target. Governor Scott Walker could not wait to sell off wetlands in Green Bay, despite the company he was trying to sell them to had no interest.

The right wing anti environment agenda was passed down to the Village of Cottage Grove this week. On the agenda was:

b.
Discuss and consider Ordinance 02-2011, repealing and recreating Chapter 163, Erosion, Sediment and Water Runoff Control of the Village Code of Ordinances.

Where you can see here (pages 33-62), where the village board made it easier and less expensive for builders and developers to build in our village.

Irregardless if this was the right thing to do, or if it will cost the village dearly in the long run, I found it interesting that the vote was unanimous 7-0 without an abstention. I would think that since one of our trustees, Paula Severson, is  a registered lobbyist for the anti- union associated builders & contractors of Wisconsin, that the right thing to do would be to abstain on building issues.  She also has failed to mention that she is a lobbyist in any of her campaign information that I have seen.

It is telling that when Governor Walker is attempting to pass a wildly unpopular union busting bill, she would keep her associations and beliefs quiet.
