Learn the facts, meet the neighbors, then roll-up your sleeves!

Cohousing workshops will be held on Thursday evening October 16th at the Goodman Community Center and Saturday morning October 18th at Bashford Church. These three-hour intensive workshops will introduce the concept of cohousing and prepare future neighbors for the challenge of creating two complementary “Sister” cohousing communities at Union Corners.

Cohousing at Union Corners is attracting potential homebuyers to this intentionally-welcoming site on the near East Side of Madison. Plans are already underway for Sister #1, which will be a three-story, multi-family cohousing building. Time has now come to gear up for Sister #2, which is envisioned as a mix of townhouse and apartment-type units. Both projects will include a variety of privately-owned units and commonly-owned amenities.

Discussions about multi-generational and senior-friendly units; affordability; pets; and types of common areas will help you and your future neighbors find the best fit for your unique needs and preferences.

This is an opportunity to consider making a vibrant, intentionally-welcoming East Side cohousing community your home. Join us!

LAND TRUST

The non-profit Madison Area Community Land Trust (MACLT) currently has funding (in partnership with the City of Madison) to help low-income homebuyers save up to $45,000 off the purchase price of essentially any single-family home listed for sale on the open real estate market in the City of Madison. To qualify, buyers must have an annual income under 80% County Median, have a credit score above 680, and a combined debt:income ratio not more that 40%. A table showing 2014 upper income limits is pasted below.

Our program is “buyer-initiated”; we work with eligible buyers to help them select a home that works for their budget and needs. Additionally, we are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who refers a buyer to us who successfully purchases a home through our program by October 31, 2014.

  1. I’m glad to see that you are invested in a more social, sustainable, and intentional community to call home. It is a very noble intention you have for the neighbors in Dane County.
