(City) Meetings Added this Week in the Last 48 Hours

Here’s some important meetings that weren’t on the agenda Monday morning or have since changed, and one I know about that still isn’t noticed . . . all thirteen! I find the slippage of noticing meetings with notice that means people will actually be able to get to the meetings really, really frustrating. It just shows such a disrespect for the public and the general change in attitude that they don’t want to hear from the public. With the dying media, it makes it even more imperative that the public can get access to information and have proper (beyond the legal requirements) notice of the meetings.

Here’s all the meetings that were added (or changed), not just the ones of interest to me. The ones of interest are in bold italics.

Additionally, the non-profits were told they were having a meeting Friday morning as follows:

Last week we held two sessions with service providers to present draft recommendations of our program areas for the 2010-2012 funding cycle. Program areas and priorities need to be established in time for the RFP process which begins next Spring. Part of what we heard last week was the need for further dialogue with a bit less structure with current service providers. In response to that we have set aside next Friday morning at Warner Park Community Center to discuss the Program Areas listed below. Please join us to discuss your suggestions and concerns.

8:00-10:00
Youth
Seniors
Children & Families
Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Crisis Intervention and Safety & Support

10:00-11:30
Adult Workforce Preparedness and Employment
Neighborhoods
Access to Resources

As staff, we have at this point essentially passed our suggestions on to the Community Services Committee for further modification and action. We look forward to seeing you next week.

Take care. Bill Clingan

One would think that has to be publicly noticed.
